I've also found that channels that grow very quickly have had one video do really well, sometimes unexpectedly so, and have consistently capitalised on that by creating more videos with similar keywords and phrases, or in the same style - which has triggered the algorithm to suggest the new video to all the people who watched the successful one as well .... etc etc...

In relation to the “scam” comment...YouTube is not a scam, success on the platform is measured by your own standards...I’ve seen people complain about videos not passing 50K views, when there is a channel that would kill for such an amount of views..too many new creators expect such a high amount of views or subs for what they believe is hard work, I will tell you first hand, YouTube is a privilege, YouTube success is earned..it took me 4 months and 35 videos to get 100subs, now I’m enjoying success with 200K subs but this platform is no scam, you gotta hustle! Great video Tim. I can definitely understand where that commenter from the beginning of the video is coming from. Regarding audience retention, I occasionally hit 50% or higher for a video's Avg. Percentage Viewed, and when I do that video always performs extremely well.

I have a question Tim. We have a phenomenon happening in the beauty community of mature women. It seems that all of a sudden a channel either starts to grow by huge numbers with no obvious changes or a new channel producing basically the same product review videos starts off with a bang. A video will have 5000 views with 20 comments for example or their subscriber count grows overnight by hundreds consistently day by day by day. Some think that the activity is being bought which does make sense. But...does it really matter? At that point maybe it's just an ethical matter or maybe it's a direction that yt is going for all content creators. Your thoughts please. xoxo patti 🎀

What do you consider the “end” of your video? Are you trying to get to 50% by the very end or by the start of the end screen? Because my retention is pretty good right up until my end screen starts.
