I think it has to do with the facts that the kids are not allowed to play more street soccer because the parents don’t want them out of their site, and we have too much over coaching instead of allowing them to make their own decisions. This is from a young age in the United States.

I have noticed that the best players are usually the kids of people from other countries, who like to play in the yard and at the park.

Over/restrictive coaching. Not allowing mistakes that come from players being ‘creative’.

A lot of American coaches from age 13 up consistently tell their players to play 1 and 2 touch but yell at players who try to take people on or play a difficult pass if they end up losing the ball (which is bound to happen). So a lot of creativity gets coached out of players from an early age

American coaches tend to prioritize and prefer big, fast and strong players over the creative tactical high iq soccer player because it is very effectice in youth soccer especially with the kids that hit puberty early therefore they never truly learn how to properly play and the game and everyone eventually hits the wall.
American coaches i feel actually know this but they dont care becasue they need a paycheck to support their families. If they dont show winning results they end up with no job. Its just done all wrong here in the states.

1. Kids dont really play pick games here casue its not part of rhe culture.

2. Futsal is not a priority in early soccer development which is a huge part of creativity and decision making given that youre constantly in tight spaces.

3. kids dont want to make mistakes in fear that they will be sub out which leads to these kids playing safe and predictable

You are watching American players. I’m from the states but grew up in Uruguay for 13 years. That’s were I learned to play. The states are still very far behind in their game IQ. It’s not a natural sport for them yet. Americans are prideful and hate to hear it but their soccer isn’t good compare to the rest of the world. I have a hard time just watching MLS games. At least they have Messi now.

If you turnover the ball youre getting subbed out. Back line and forwards arent there to be creative its all about results. Midfield play going too fast too much pressure to relax and make interesting passes.

I would say it’s down to coaching. It’s really that simple. Or you have some great talent here in America but they don’t have the money to be seen or they don’t know the right people to get exposure.

Self Preservation …. It’s counterintuitive I know and equally as vague as the question itself. I have a hunch you can follow.

What are you comparing D1 to? They are not in par with EPL or MLS.
