A sports boardcaster with a quick wit and wicked sense of humor. R.I.P. Jerry Gilard.

It was a pleasure to watch the action news on WPIX-11. Terrific newscasters. RIP Jerry and Pat. You guys could show today's folks a thing or two about professionalism in journalism.

I loved this guy.He was the best. His best line ever was doing a story about a Mets game."Tonight at Shea Stadium, Dave Kingman was attacked by another fly ball tonight.

I grew up next door to Jerry and he was a tough guy to beat in sports.  Small in stature but always thinking ahead.  He was always fun to be around.

I remember Jerry Girard from when I was a kid...when I would watch ACTION NEWS with my parents! I also remember Pat Harper & Steve Bosh (that was a few years later!)

Jerry Gerard and Warner Wolf are two of my all-time favorite sport anchors growing up in New York City during the middle 70s thru the late 80s 👍👍

Jerry Girard was awesome. He even had a classic line when the NY Rangers lost a playoffs series. He joked about the Tappen Zee Bridge, the Triboro Bridge & Brooklyn Bridge all being closed each for two hours, so Rangers fans would jump off those bridges. Dry sense of humor.

My favorite line from Jerry Gerard was the time that he in frustration, talked about Jim Beattie trying to fool Seattle's Rupert Jones with his straight Jones promptly took that pitch and put it into orbit into the upper deck.

This was Jerry before he honed his sarcasm to a fine edge. I remember when Phil Jackson retired and Jerry said he had career totals of 18 points and 10 dribbles.

sportscaster Jerry Gerard was such a hip cat

Jerry had his own act, original but honest. Sports casters on these local networks are utterly generic, boring.

Dark ages for the Yankees. They got Reggie and some much needed help shortly after.
