Pene Pati sings 'Pourquoi me réveiller' (Massenet: Werther)

Pene Pati performs Massenet's poignant aria "Pourquoi me réveiller" from Werther with the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, conducted by Emmanuel Villaume.

Composed in 1887, Werther is based on Goethe’s novel The Sorrows of Young Werther. In this scene, Werther, consumed by unrequited love, contemplates the transient nature of life and love, making "Pourquoi me réveiller" one of the most heart-wrenching arias in the tenor repertoire.
