The Moon's Mysterious Influence on Humans....Why?...

Later studies have failed to find correlations between the moon and our health. An research on “lunar-lunacy” published in 1985 concluded that there was no correlation between the Moon and incidents such as crime, suicides, and mental hospital admissions. A 1988 published paper criticizes hypotheses on a “lunar-effect” in association to the human condition, by concluding that none are efficient enough to explain the alleged effects of the moon and a human's well being. Stating a lack of satisfactory mechanisms, a reliable connection between lunar periodicity and human behavior, and generally negative results obtained in other studies.

I love it when past theories match most of my own theory.

As a nurse who is tapped into human emotions and behavior, a full moon does affect human behavior. Ask any nurse!!

So I'm a "full moon goon" born on on a full moon. To a mother born on a full moon. And my maternal grandmother? Yeah her too. It has an effect, however it is subtle and I find I get a little edgy, irritable, or a kind of nervous apprehension. I have experienced nothing insane associated with the full moon, ditto my maternal lineage. As a teenager, I did however enjoy going on many hikes at night on a full moon in the desert but with rattlesnakes, scorpions, cholla cacti, and various insects and plants that can be dangerous, the light of a full moon is a safety precaution.

Perhaps the reason the full moon brings out the crazies, is because it's easier to see at night, when most crimes occur, especially before the electric age.

That's where the terms lunacy and lunatic came from, because they thought the moon made people crazy

I’ll forgive you the lie about werewolves in the opening. I enjoyed it just the same. I’ll have to assume you’ve been truthful in the remainder of the presentation. As an ER nurse, I undertook a “survey” of full moon related admissions to the psych ward. The results were interesting. There was zero change in admissions to psychiatry during a full moon, nor was there any change in ER visits. It was interesting to undertake and made a humorous point in our rather stressful profession.

A human body is 70% + water. If the moon can affect tides it can definitely affect human bodies.

If you have ever lived out in the wilderness for a while without technology you find you become very synced with the day-night cycle.
It's possible that there's credibility to the theory but our modern lifestyles all but dissipate any effect the moon now has. In bygone times the effect may have been greater and more frequently observed.

It's still a shame Piccolo destroyed the moon.

Just from an evolutionary perspective it's obvious and undeniable the moon has a direct effect on humans. A direct physiological effect no less. Our ancestors used the light of a full moon to explore, hunt, relocate, attack other tribes, and other physical things that they couldn't commonly do on very dark nights. This mindset and primitive urge stays with us today. That's why people are generally more aggressive during fool moons, especially when it comes to crime. It's just in our nature to be a bit more aggressive and active on full moon nights.

Now I know where the term for werewolves, lycanthropy, originated. Thanks!

The lunatics were out in force during this year's lunar New Year, with 2 mass slayings in California, one in Monterey Park east of downtown LA, and one in Half Moon Bay south of San Fran. The latter may be better called Full Moon Bay considering the effect it may have had on the killer.

A fly? Not a steak or grape or something. I wonder why anyone would choose that.
