My favourite reads of the last two months were This Poison Heart and The Bennet Women (apparently I have a soft spot for queer retelling of classics). I can’t WAIT to read The City We Became, it sounds just weird enough to be a new fav 😍

I love She Who Became the Sun, and I somehow love the sequel even more because of how unhinged the antagonist got. I want to read Jasmine Throne and its sequels but I have to find copies first😅.

The City We Became was definitely the best adult book I listened to February/March. Honourable mentions to Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse and the nonfiction How To Be Perfect by Michael Schur .

Best kid’s book was Kiki Kallira Breaks a Kingdom by Sangu Mandanna. Picked it up for the mythological fantasy and it turned out to have amazing OCD rep as well. OCD is so often poorly portrayed so to see it done well was great. Honourable mention to the Murder Most Unladylike series.

I also read some novellas. Princess Floralinda and the Forty-Flight Tower, Silver in the Woods, and a reread of All Systems Red.

Catherine House reminded me of the Truly Devious Trilogy. It is also about an exclusive school for elite students and it is a mystery trilogy and super fun and thrilling. I am not sure you have read it before but it is worth checking it out.

I am very excited to read The Jasmine Throne. I am not quite in the mood for it at the moment, but when I next slide into that kind of fantasy mood I will be picking it up immediately. But your description of The City We Became really intrigued me. I love Gaiman's storytelling and worldbuilding, and I have been wanting to give N.K. Jemisin a shot. Plus, I love strangeness and weirdness in my novels, and I am in that kind of mood at the moment. I was planning to begin with The Fifth Season because I love dystopian, and the way that people talk about the series just intrigues me so much, but maybe I should begin with this one instead.
