Dearest Miranda, the only reason I didn't miss you so much was that I have been binge-watching your previous videos throughout the whole weekend. Nevertheless, I really appreciate you're back with your book recommendations. I hope your're feeling better now. 🥰

It’s so nice to see a new video from you again. The hiatus feels like forever.

My husband and I run a Free Little Library and I came across the first book in a series of five called "The Penderwicks" by Jeanne Birdsall about 4 sisters and their father who go to stay at a cottage on the estate called Arundel. I loved it and immediately bought the next 4 books and have read all of them. I highly recommend them and wonder if anyone else has read them. Always enjoy your content!

A short story that was actually turned into an opera is The Light in the Piazza by Elizabeth Spencer. It's a beautiful and timeless story which takes place in 1953. It's an American mother from the South and her daughter in Italy. I think you would enjoy it.

Another lovely video, I look forward to these every week. A highlight for me in February was seeing The Sleeping Beauty performed by the Royal Ballet. Such a lovely production and I've been thinking about it non stop since I saw it. Most of the books I have on ballet are non-fiction, often memoirs of dancers or books about ballets or ballet companies. I wondered you had any recommendations for fiction about ballet, especially any mid century books from the 30s 40s and 50s? Of course there is ballet shoes, always wonderful, but I'm curious to find some new titles and authors? All the best and I hope you have a more peaceful week this week!

As always, I enjoyed your book recommendations and mini reviews of what you've been reading. I've read such wonderful books recently - a reread of Rebecca (brilliant!!) and some fun, lighthearted novels: Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day in addition to the CBC's The Nonesuch. All brightened these late winter days and gave me the feeling that Spring is indeed on it's way. Enjoy your week! 🌷

I hope to finish Father by Elizabeth Von Arnim today (loving it!!!) and then I plan to watch the Comfort Book Club video in which it was discussed. I plan to do this from time to time, pick reads from past Comfort Book Clubs and then enjoy hearing everyone's comments. Have a great week!

Dear Miranda,
Thank you so much for your lovely video! I hope you will soon be feeling well again! This week, I had a lovely package coming from suselandco, who I got to know from your friendly recommendations. It was a bit tricky to order from them, since on their website they only ship to the uk and the us. But they kindly offered me to handle everything via etsy and it worked out perfectly. Since I was their first customer from Germany they even put a couple of surprises into my parcel. I was so delighted!! I never would have known them, if it wasn't for you. Thank you for all you do, you are a true gem and inspiration for my life. I read a lot of your recs in February: the Nonesuch, war among ladies, High Rising, Christmas at High Rising, Emma (again) and others. I wish you and your mother a lovely week ahead!

What a lot of wonderful recommendations - I especially love the sound of A World Within a School and both the Slightly Foxed books, and The Reunion has been on my list since spoke so eloquently about it previously. I also have The Game of Hearts out from my library, it sounds fascinating, I’m really looking forward to reading it. You describe books so well I always want to rush out to find them straight away! I’ve recently finished India Knight’s Darling which I absolutely adored, as soon as I finished it I wanted to start it again. I loved all the characters so much and she captured the feel of the original book perfectly whilst updating it so cleverly. So funny too, I was laughing aloud at times - the three page list of Uncle Matthew’s hates was hilarious!

Miranda, I also love 'The Simple Things ' magazine - it's a lovely, positive read, isn't it? Mind you, we Australians have only just received the Christmas edition! I keep meaning to subscribe to 'The Scribbler', so I will get organised with that. I have attempted a few times to send you a Super Thanks, but I'm having issues with PayPal - hoping to get it sorted. Thanks for all these great reviews for February, and may March see you in good health!

Interesting comments as always. The Two Mrs Abbotts was my favourite of the 4 books. I think it was all the really interesting WWII historical details which appealed to me.

Really enjoyed this episode. It's inspired me to read literary magazines and to hunt out Susan Scarlett. I adored Noel Streatfield books when I was young.

I also read A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting last month and had a great time with it!

Hi Miranda,

What a treat to find your latest vlog. So glad you are feeling more yourself again. You are looking quite lovely in that gorgeous turquoise patterned blouse and the headband.

Such a lovely list of books you read in February. I've now reserved a copy at the library of your much recommended Daughter of the Moon Goddess. I loved the descriptions you shared about it. And, I ordered The Nonesuch by Georgette Heyer several weeks ago to read along with the Comfort Book Club in February. Alas I am still awaiting its arrival to Canada from the UK. Maybe it will be here this week. I read many of Georgette Heyer's books in my 20s and 30s which is a few decades ago now. I look forward to revisiting her writing.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful recommendations. It's because of your lovely descriptions that my own bookshelf now burgeons with delightful new books to read. What fun!

Wishing you a beautiful week ahead.
