What an amazing place this is. That grave is almost 300 years old! I did some record digging, and from the Irish medieval churches Wexford page found this little gem. The church was dedicated to St. Kevin c 1680 and the Drinagh South Graveyard was operational from 1722. Thank you for bringing us all along Sue.

Sure I wandered around there from my cousins home in Blackhorse Lane. PS, I didn’t walk across the field, walked along the hedge, being a country boy, never walk across a field as there may be crops growing 👏

Thank you Sue for taking us with you as you discover history. I've enjoyed being with you on so many visits but this one was so meaningful. I am a descendant of the Kearney family from Moneygall Ireland. It is so thrilling to see their history. Thank you!!!

The walls of the Church are amazing. Slates carefully packed without any product to bind them. I saw a lot of similar old walls in Connemara. The builders were well trained artisans.

Beautiful filming of a beautiful graveyard, Sue. The quality of that church stonework is astonishing, even in its ruined state. I believe bullauns were usually made of very hard and heavy stone (eg granite, basalt) which is why they tend to survive when everything else in the interior of a church hasn't. I love the lettering on those 18th century headstones, even if it is sometimes very difficult to read.

A beautiful place, so peaceful there. That old Church was amazing, those arches looked like they were made of slate and were an art in itself. The technique of the building of the walls of the Church are what they call 'dry stone' very, very old and expertly done, just small and larger stone slabs painstakingly put on top of each other, relying on gravity. I'm just having a guess here but looking at the way the Church was built and the size and style plus age, I would say it was more of a small family Church used by the Owner or Laird for his workers on his large property in days gone by. There were a couple of lost at Sea and as it was situated not far from the sea this could indicate fishing area also. An older name and dated headstone that are readable and are still there maybe a clue. Thank you so much Sue, a beautiful, fascinating find. 💕🇦🇺

Very nice. I am always amazed at how old these stones are, yet can still be read. Thank you for sharing. Take care.

We believe when a butterfly appears it's the departed visiting you. I think you were at Margaret when the butterfly passed twice. She was acknowledging you. Beautiful.

Thank you for doing this again, the picture was much better. It was once a quite substantial graveyard by the looks of it.Shame it’s been left unkept. The church is a lot older and I should imagine there is burials going back to when the church was first there.Possibly medieval or even Norman the thin window is an Archers window, which makes me think is that old .It would have been a good sized one too..Thank you for the walk around Sue..Love n Light 🥰

When was the last time anyone spoke their names? Every time I read a name on a tombstone aloud I think of that.
