Discord is one of the best ways to communicate on the internet. But what if you've only heard about Discord but still have no idea why so many people are talking about it? How does Discord work? How is Discord set up? What makes Discord so great for communication? Why do so many streamers and gamers use Discord?

These are all great questions I'll hopefully help answer in this beginner's guide on how to use Discord. This will be an overview covering the question "what is Discord?" for beginners that really don't have much knowledge about Discord but want to learn more about what it is and how it works.

What is a server in Discord vs a server at yr ISP ?
And what is the difference between a chat channel in Discord or, say, a Facebook group? it's the same thing isnt it ?
