Beginner-Friendly Discord Server Tutorial!

Показать описание
I previously made a Discord server tutorial that just handed you a server template and let you figure out Discord role, channel, and category permissions on your own. However, those Discord permissions are actually really hard to understand as a beginner. In this video I aim to educate you on how to set up a Discord server. Hopefully the foundations presented in this video will help you grow your small server into a massive server that can hopefully get the golden prize of becoming Discord partner.

Subscribe so I know that this massive 1hr video wasn't a waste. Jk I know it'll be useful to at least 1 person and that makes me happy :)

I knew almost everything from this video but didn't realize that it's way cleaner to only assign additional permissions to the staff roles, it's actually also better because you can change @everyone perms and that will apply to staff too

The roles can be explained as a progression from

Everyone > to single user

Whatever everyone receive as perms, it transfers to everyone, with further roles separating the users into more privileged ones with more power

This is to enable server admins the ability to just play with how much power someone has

Ultimately, the highest role per say is you as a user

This though indeed becomes more convoluted when specific channels can override user powers, like everyone can see any channel, though private-d channels still end up out of sight, contrary to the above scheme, basically channels have the opposite progression, with them able to trump powers of users

(I should test whether admin powers like edit channels can be ultimately overriden by channels)
