Nutribullet extractor blade maintenance and avoid synthetic grease

preview_player

Maintain your extractor blade to extend its life and avoid buying a new one every 6 months as the manufacturer suggests. I favor cocount oil or shea butter rather than synthetic food grade silicone grease to lubricate the parts. One could make a concoction with oils and melted beeswax to get a certain consistency. This is just my attempt at keeping this extractor blade going. I have owned 3 Nutribullet blenders over the past few years and tried several aftermarket parts with variable success. They are great blenders for the ease of use, cleanup, price point, and small footprint, but they have their shortcomings. I am curious to see what others are doing to keep their blender working. This was so helpful. Knowing that it's reverse thread was crucial. Thanks.

Thx. Saved me a lot of money replacing these blades from rusting issues.

I'm thankful for this really nice organic approach to this particular mechanical maintenance.

Right on the money! Great explanation! Whats funny is you can hear his kids fighting and he stays explaining! Lol

Thanks. Fascinating. Here in Australia, parts will cost A LOT more than in the USA. I wasn't aware that manufacturer recommends blade assembly change every 6 months!

Thanks for the video - Had to soak my blade upside down with some 3 in 1 oil to penetrate the threads as I could not get the rubber base off. When it did come off I cleaned it throughout with heavy duty Dawn soak to get rid of the oil. I had to take the blade out as the crud and rust made it stick. Cleaned the rest as you did and it went back together fine. I should probably replace the head as I've been using it now and then for years but at least I got it cleaned for now.

Very helpful. I needed just a little piece of info regarding screwing rubber bearing CLOCKWISE. I had a hard time assembling it straight from the box due to luck of these information. I kept on trying to screw it on the wrong way. Thank you! 😀

Lubricating the shaft does nothing. The black grease is from your worn out sealed bearings. The beatings must be replaced.

Thank you Danh Ngo. I noticed that mechanical oil has also been leaking into the blend.... this is very concerning to me because who knows how long I've been ingesting this. I did one last test with clear filtered water and it was indeed leaking into the blend. I will watch the rest of your video to learn more, but I have also order a new blade attachment off of Amazon.

Why not instead use Silicone grease? It's not toxic (if manufacturer days so), will last long, blocks water, can resist high and low temperatures, will likely not leak away as easily as other grease. It can be used in washing machines for oil sealing rings at water pump in your dishwasher, or water taps (though with water pipe screws, i would prefer some layers of teflon tape).
It's even used in my old 13 year old electric shaver, hadn't gone dried up yet (checked when disassembling to clean old hair and skin fat gunk)...

Vegetable oils i imagine dry up faster, attract dust and depending on temperature may turn less oily, and over time when coconut (or whatever vegetable) oil reacts with oxygen, it would go bad.

That was one of my problems! What grease to use? Thank you very much ❤️

I just bought a new blade assembly from the manufacturer and disassembled it before use. There isn't any grease in it. It relies entirely on the bearings. Oiling the rod probably doesn't do anything.
I attempted to grease one with shot bearings and it didn't help at all.

There is a very thin washer and also another seeming mini nut/washer about 1/2" down the nut preventing me from pushing the mechanism down and apart from the grey plastic housing (I didn't see this in your demonstration). I have no idea how to take this 'washer' thing off since it's so thin and seemingly stuck to the nut. Any ideas?

In this case, can rust pass in my smooty or food? Should I worry about that?
