There are probably 100, 000 ev's in NYC. we are now dependent on them. EVERY cell phone, ipad and computer in NYC has these batteries in them, which brings the number of devices into the 10's of millions and still by ANY measure, we have a very minimal amount of fires or accidents. This is amazingly stupid. Leave personal electric vehicles alone.

All batteries/chargers sold should meet or exceed UL standards and be certified. All sellers such as Amazon/eBay or anybody else that sells non certified products should be held 100% responsible. Do Not Charge or store a large Li-ion battery inside or next to a dwelling. FYI, there are an estimated 284, 130 gasoline cars that catch fire every year in the USA. These vehicle fires account for an estimated 480 deaths, 1, 525 injuries, and $1.3 billion in property damage annually. Think about that before you park your gasoline vehicle inside your attached garage.

Well plenty of potentially dangerous things have regulations but people still do what they want anyway. An extension cord? A space heater? Both could be harmless and are regulated until some idiot uses them the wrong way.
