Hmm, you could try stickers or tape? If you add maybe a simple dot of colored nail polish on it, you should still be able to remove it later with nail polish remover.

Would this work with some acrylic paint and mod podge on top as the “topcoat”?

Cool idea. How long does the design and coating last? A key will bang against other keys on a keyring. The coating will accidentally impact with many different surfaces during its lifetime. Have you made any tests on how long it will last with normal use? Thanks.

I would encourage people to use spray paint rather than nail polish since it will probably last longer and not chip but these are so cute!
