A lot of people in our community are looking at switching from a traditional carry — at or behind the hip — to a centerline carry, popularly known as the appendix carry position.

No matter how expert you are in the handling of your pistol, there are many guys even more expert than you who have had negligent discharges. Are you willing to chance ND'ing into your wedding tackle or your femoral artery? Are the advantages of center line over 3 o'clock great enough to warrant the consequences?

Centerline carry is not a new concept. If you examine history carefully you will see that "gunfighters" frequently carried a third pistol in such a configuration. My first competition holster was a Milt Sparks manufactured "Bruce Nelson Model 66" with the butt on line with my navel. By the way, Ray Chapman pioneered this technique to win the first "Leather Slap" at Big Bear in California. Most of us naturally move to the "interview position" (left foot slightly forward of center) when faced with a possible threat. A holster that positions the firearm in line with your forearm is very fast and safe (as the angle is outside the area you mentioned. As soon as the muzzle clears the holster you "punch" straight out. If someone makes an inside the waist cross draw, I am not aware of it.

AIWBs SERIOUS FLAW
The number one flaw to these types of holster is where the gun is pointed on the draw & in the re-holster.
If cloth or an obstruction gets into the trigger area, *_bang, _* goodbye privates.
If you on a self-defense draw or even on the re-holster from a CCW incident with all that
adrenaline and nervousness, *_Boom, _* you hit your femora artery.

To me, and this is an opinion, _only foolish people take the risk of AIWB_ their negatives outweighs their positives.
One mistake is all it takes for an instant transgender during a self-defense incident or in training/practice.

Crotch Shooting at Arizona Walmart

Sooner or later the AD or ND will happen & all it takes is one mistake &:
- you are either dead (femoral artery hit)
- or you are an instant transgender (hit to the man tool/baby maker/ family jewel, etc.)
Would you rather AD/ND in your side, butt, or AD/ND into you crouch area?

Stay frosty & remember Memorial Day (May 25th)
