The crudest radar dates back about 100 years. Radar has many other applications in the modern world, and has applications in space as well. Once a nearby astronomical body, for example, has been optically detected, radar may sometimes be used to better define its features.

3:43 Does anyone else kind of wish they grew up in the 40s? It seems like such a magically time, after the World Wars had ended, that swanky music and everything in Chrome.

Radar was patented in the USA in 1934. The magnetron was not invented in Britain, but the cavity magnetron was. Microwave radar was invented in the USA by what became known as the Rad Lab at MIT, using the cavity magnetron.

Germans even used phased array antennas (Mammut).
Germans considered primitive Fnglish radar useless. That‘s they reason why they did not even bomb it !

How did US get hold of UK's radar tech??.. They were allies but still at that time such a technology must have been considered state secret.

Rip MH370. Hopefully they did not simply disappeared on the radar, but rather accidentally travel through a worm hole to the future
