Ron Wyden is not dumb. Wyden knows that it is time to start moving forward, in anticipation of of the next session. Has anyone else attempted this move? No.
Thank you Ron Wyden and Harry Litman! 🎯

Of all the s**tshows of the last several politicsl years, the reprehensible ethical failures of Alito and Thomas are the most disappointing.

How about we start nominating judges for their sense of logic, fairness, pragmatism, empathy and knowledge of the law?

I have one question: Why is the DOJ not seeking indictment of Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas?

We know the republicans will not vote for this bill. However, it would be very good if it went through. VOTE BLUE! We need a democratic Senate and a democratic House! 💙💙💙

Well, it's hard to argue SCOTUS doesn't need changing...6 biased politicians v 3 true justices

Expanding the Supreme Court to match up with the 13 Circuits of the US Courts of Appeals seems civilized to me. 😊 Vote 💙💙💙 so reforms and oversight can be enacted.

I pray that this is successful. No other way to reign those 6 anti-law justices in.

I'm an Oregonian too! Ron Wyden is one of the solid liberals in the Senate. He quietly and thoroughly takes on important issues that must be addressed in this country that other Senators just ignore - for example, the scary overreach of the NSA spies. I'm very proud of him and it's just thrilling that he's taken the lead on eliminating the power of a far-right revolutionary cabal. I'm a retired lawyer and, at 65, I have never seen, and never anticipated, that so-called "conservative" justices (they're not conservative, they're active revolutionaries) would pull so much power to themselves. They are blatantly legislating from the bench - on major issues - in case after case.

The Constitution does not say how many justices must serve on the Supreme Court. It is up to Congress. A law by Congress, and signed by George Washington, set the number at 6. It was soon reduced to 5 by Congress, which quickly turned around and made it 6 again. Congress expanded the number to 9 in 1837 - purposely giving the incumbent President the chance to appoint two new Justices. The number went up to 10 during the Civil War, but a Republican Congress reduced the number to 7, specifically to take away a Democratic President's opportunity to appoint Supreme Court justices. Three years later, Congress changed the number back to 9.

FDR, first elected in 1932, had to deal with the Great Depression, the rise of fascism and the rise of Japanese imperialism. He was an effective and powerful Commander-in-Chief throughout World War Two. Yet, a conservative cabal on the Supreme Court kept holding that much of FDR's New Deal was unconstitutional. In 1937, at the beginning of his second term, FDR proposed adding 6 new justices to the Supreme Court, raising the number to 15 (like Wyden's plan). A month later, the Supreme Court got the message and upheld federal minimum wage laws for women. That Supreme Court then began approving of New Deal policies, so FDR's plan for a 15-member Supreme Court never came to fruition because it was no longer necessary.

Osborn in Nebraska, Allred in Texas and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in Florida are all tied for Senate seats and doing well.
