Potato Chip Block - Alternate Block 2

Hello everyone! Today, we are going to show you the second alternative of my favorite Scrap buster quilt block!

As I have said before, my quilting friends and I have nicknamed this block "The Potato Chip Block" because they are so much fun to make.

The cutting instructions for the original 12.5 inch block I showed you are as follows:

Cut 32 - 2.0 by 3.5 inch rectangles and arrange as shown in the video.

Also, you could use 18 rectangles and they measure 2.5 by 4.5 inches. The layout would be the same except for the most outer row is not there.

There are 1 more alternatives to this block so keep watching this channel for more details.

Remember it is easier to make more than one of these blocks at once because you can chain piece.

Remember to have fun with trying different scale of prints, color combinations, different layouts and keep moving forward.

Most importantly, quilting and piecing is about having fun not feeling pressured!

There is so many things to look at on a scrappy quilt that other people won't notice any mistakes you make. This is a very cute "I spy" quilt too!

I like the concept of a completely scrap quilt and they turn out beautifully. However, if I'm being honest they are really hard for me to look at. I don't know if I have ADD or what. Plus I have a huge difference in the vision between my eyes which causes me to have depth perception and balance issues. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't make one someday (soon even). I could see inviting a girlfriend to come over and sew. She could just build it block by block 9she doesn't sew) and not have to worry how it turns out or whatever. Thanks for all your great videos and the whistling makes me smile. My Dad and Grandpa used to do that. I can't to save my soul!

I just watched all 3 potato chips in a row. Each is darling and soooo versatile.
I was thinking 2 1/2 by 4 1/2 (18 pavers per block) and 3 formats - medium/light/dark, dark/medium/light and light/dark/medium. Not sure on arrangement. What a wealth of possibilities! Tks so much.

Different summer, but yes, I am traveling. My college roommate, friend of 57 years, and I are traveling from TN across the northern states, down to North Ogden, Utah, then down south to her home in Tucson, Arizona. I'll travel back to ETN alone, but that's okay, I've driven it dozens of times in my life and I love the drive - except I-40 is a death trap I try to stay off of these days. Too many crazy trucks and people. We are using 6 weeks from mid-April to the end of May, and I'm looking forward to thinking about new things. Taking one of my Featherweights, though, just in case I get desperate to sew. LOL And handwork, crazy quilting. My friend doesn't sew, hard as it is to imagine. She never has, even when we were 17 and the youngest in the dorm together. It seems like I've always sewn! And I started on a FW at home! Love this alternate, love the other alternate, even more than the original. The Christmas one for your daughter is beautiful and tempting.
