AMD's Zen 2 launch promptly stole the show this year at Computex. There are several things to discuss - including AMD's latest announcement regarding PCIe 4.0 on pre-X570 motherboards and 3XXX compatibility on boards as old as B350 and X370. 7nm is an incredible feat for any company, but here's what you really need to know before you buy!

Thanks again for the support during our extensive Computex coverage last week. It's good to be home!

hahaha... if 500 bucks is too much for 12 cores.. then go buy an 8 core intel for 580.. oh wait.

$500 can buy you a Zen 2 12core CPU
$1000 can buy you a apple *monitor stand*

The limiting factor for content creators is the terrible optimisation of Adobe software, not the lack of an iGPU on AMD. DaVinci Resolve is just much better, as well as cheaper in the long run. One time payment for lifetime upgrades, vs a subscription for Creative Cloud.

I have the 1800x paired with a 1070Ti and I am comfortable where I am now. It still does the job better then my previous decade old workstation.

Zen 2, more cores than a truck full of apples.

Can't wait for benchmarks on these, going to be very interesting.

3700x looks like the best value imo, it looks like it will be a great all rounder

I'm interested in seeing the benchmarks between the 3700x and 3800x. Will the 3800x be worth the extra $70 for the average gamer?

Regarding Adobe, yes of course you're right.
It's not the lack of a iGPU that's the problem though.
AMD have APUs of their own with a iGPU...
The trouble is simply a complete and utter lack of optimizations for AMD hardware by Adobe...
Anyone considering a AMD rig for video editing should be looking at competing software like davinci resolve etc.

Zen 2 looks liek an awsome lineup. The 3700X may be the chip that gets me to finally upgrade and switch to AMD for the first time. I built my system with the I7 6700k right before Ryzen launched. But have been recommending AMDs Zen chips for the past 2 years for the amazing PTP.

I just hope this brings better competition between Intel and AMD, more innovation and competition would be good for both blue and red

I already picked 3700x as final choice (TY for proven it's value in 8:36)
3600x already gonna work with any game without any bottleneck
But 3700x is more future-proof, extra cores/threads to programs runing in background..etc
3900x only needed for creators, 3800x doesn't worth the extra $70, and 3700x already comes in middle (Value will lasts 4 years minimum)

Wow 12 Cores 24 Threads.
Me: Cries in 2 core 4 Thread (i7-7500U) laptop.

I just want to see if an overclocked 3700X can match or get close enough to a 9900K. I also wish there was a 3700 SKU that sat between the 3600X and 3700X.

More curious about clock speed behavior, heat characteristics/density, and overclocking performance of zen 2. I am thinking of upgrading from a 2700x.
