On December 17, 2021, WMSR 1309 made her first revenue run pulling the "Polar Express" to Helmstetters Curve. She is blasting past Bone Cave on the superbly engineered former Western Maryland Railway Connellsville Subdivision.

Great video. No switching, but operation on the open track. No hooting, just the sound of power delivery. We get an impression of how the big locomotive sounds at medium speed under load on a 1.75% grade. We hear the huge low-pressure cylinders expelling their voluminous contents 4x per driver revolution through the exhaust valves and the stack. Emotionally it sounds unstoppably powerful and surefooted. This is the sound of the largest operable Mallet locomotive in the world. Thank you for sharing it.

wow that was just yesturday looks like 1309 is making 734 proud. but im very surprised they arent' taking it all the way to frostburg. my guess is they didn't have time to test the turntable before the polar express
