About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday, we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.

There are tens of thousands of people who see an upload, smile and get ready to catch up with a friend. That's what you do, it's priceless.

Actually, considering how many animals you lost- your profit didn't completely tank and that's an absolute miracle!🎉

And we raised so much money for your friends that YOU GOT GOATS!❤🐐

I think the ability to diversify the farm is the saving grace for you, it's not just about what you produce via crops or livestock, but also the videos, the books, the merch. Just being an old school farmer isn't financially feasible on a small farm anymore.

You're not even a 1st generation farmer. You're a Brooklyn/DC transplant doing the best he can to learn and entirely new lifestyle.

You're doing just fine. Give yourself some grace. Thank God for YouTube and the opportunity it provides you. Keep it up, homie.

Morgan be kind to yourself. There were quite a few things that you didn't know or where out of your control. You are doing amazing!

For this 5 year bedridden farmers daughter, this you tube channel and Sandi Brock keep me not only entertained but from being lonely. My day is so much brighter when i see a new post. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Your community is richer having you in it. We're also richer for being able to watch the farm online. This level of authenticity is a big part of why I watch. Best wishes for the new year!

I think that this year was not a bust. Working with animals is always a risk... illness can wipe out the entire herd. But you figured out the cattle problem early, and next year you will have a handle on the ducks. Keep the faith. We are behind you!!

While you're saying thank you to think we need to say thank you too. You keep it real with your struggles and your delights and the optimism for things to always get better.
Thank you and Happy New Year to you 💖💖💖

You hit the nail on the head with the observation that if you won the lottery what would you do... You said you'd do what your doing so in fact you are living your best life. You are doing what you love, and you love what you are doing. That's living!
Plus, you bring joy to us your fans. So from me directly to you, "Thank you".

One of the best things about this channel is your transparency and honesty about the good things and the bad things that happen on the farm. You just keep doing what you're doing, and we'll be here with you.

I am so proud of how much you tried this year Morgan. Your failures are our data for future success, and I can not thank you enough for continuing to try.

Love your transparency. Don't discount the benefits to your mental health and the fact that you do make income from YouTube. I think you are doing great.

The most important value is what you a stated at 21:44. You said “I love my life”
THAT is the biggest value. The financials will come.
And you Inspire so many people so don’t feel down on yourself.

You did something new! It didn't work out. Building the new hatchery, a whole new system. Having your calves once more. This year was one of those for learning again. You will learn to perfect your new system, and the calves you lost serve as a reminder what mistake you will NEVER EVER do again. Don't dwell in regret for too long, you had a hard year. And that's out of your overall control. Here's to a better new year and thank you for all the videos you make and share. The good, the bad, the ugly. ♥

Morgan, a couple of things to keep in mind if you’re having doubts about your strategy:
*In the beginning stages of development, you’re still learning.
*As you redo your budget each year, you will likely do better and better at tracking and allocating your costs, therefore remind yourself that past year’s P&L may not be as accurate as you thought when you first calculated, so year to year comparisons may not be as valid.
*Profits from pork got dragged down by the loss of 25% of your inventory. That one loss would not be as significant as if you had 10 pigs.
*Your beef cattle is still in development and could begin to pay off big in a few short years.
Keep at it! You’re doing great.
Best wishes,
A non-farmer, (so what do I know?)
