Unfortunately thrift stores have gotten better at knowing what's valuable and most of the bigger chains, like Goodwill, will redirect the good stuff to be sold on their website

Thrift stores are now more expensive than regular stores for some reason. It’s crazy how expensive some of the items there considering the fact that everything they sell is being donated to them for free.

I bought an authentic Celine bag for $10 (that later was stolen by my so called friend at the time, because she knew) best find thus far for me. That same thrift store had a tea cup for my 1700's China tea set passed down to me, my son broke one of the cups, and when I went back for the replacement piece, even if it wasn't the era, it matched well... but it was gone when I went back 😢

The trick is not to go in looking for $hit that you can sell, the trick is to find it by accident or happen upon it without intent

Goodwill has gotten ridiculously expensive and they lock up the good stuff with insane prices for things they get for FREE.

I love thrift stores were made to help people and now it only caters to people with money.. charging store prices for used items, . A shirt was $8 but 5 at Walmart lol

I think you're more likely to find good finds in smaller more indie thrift stores where the curators may not know as much about what is and isnt valuable.

In australia the people who work for the thrift stores are normally older women so a lot of things go under the radar. You can find designer dresses with the tag still on it saying 300-500 dollars for around max 30 dollars.

Its crazy

The Goodwill has a staff of antique appraisers that will hold back the valuable items to be sold at auctions.

That clock was a Seth Thomas clock from the late 1800s to the early 1900s that's worth about $200-$300.

it’s not the point of thrift shops for you to just find something and sell it again. It’s almost as if it’s for needy people

Many real treasures in the average thrift store are on display in the Manager's office...or Owners home.
