Accents aren't just about the words you use, such as pop and cart. But more about how you pronounce words. I was born and raised in Minnesota, and just moved back from living out east for 4 years. There is a difference, and yes you have a MN accent. Be proud of it! I have always loved my accent, and never changed (accept I said soda, because nobody knew what pop was.)

The words such as roof, route and aunt are usually dead give a ways.

I'm from Mankato. I was on a plane flying to San Antonio TX. I woman taps me on the shoulder and says "Where yall from?" I replied MN, she says with a severe southern drawl, I thought so yall got an accent! But I have been told more than once that I have an accent. If a MN accent is an accent. Maybe it's because of a lack of any accent. Doncha know, ya sure. Uffda!

I was somewhere down south and I was talking to a waitress and she was like, 'I don't understand your accent'. Apparently I have the heaviest MN accent of anyone people have heard ha, I'm only 13😂

Tell me one thing--is our accent really that noticeable? Had a discussion in class today with our non-Minnesotan instructor today and our accent is supposedly pretty ridiculous.

I'm from Cali.  I do hear the accent, but it's mild compared to other Minnesotan accents I've heard.  Most of what distinguishes your accent is how you pronounce your 'O's.  There is a bit of a double O or long U sound (shoe, coot, raccoon) mixed into your long O words (boat, coat, Minnesota).

From the perspective of living in southern Minnesota, I can actually for once hear your Minnesotan accent! Which is strange because I can't hear my own accent, but your accent is prominent when you say Harry Potter, Accent, Minnesota, have, audio, and etc! So to ease your worries, you can definitely say you have an accent!

I'm from Texas and I definitely think you have a Minnesotan accent hahaha! I love it.

The way you pronounced coupon like (Coo-pon)

I would pronounce it like saying the letter "Q"-pon
