We finish out classics week with Nina Simone's Pastel Blues, an even blend of blues, jazz, and traditional music that showcases the unique singer's voice perfectly.

What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?

Nina Simone's version of Strange Fruit is absolutely beautiful.

Wow this album is fantastic, and Ive been listening to Nina Simone's Sings the Blues also. She has such an emotive voice, and has an edge to her. I liked your classics week despite what other people are saying. Truly influential records.

This is the kind of Classics Week video I like. I appreciate the Bitches Brew, At Folsom Prison, and Velvet Underground ones, but I had never heard of this album in my life. I like being introduced to music I've never heard, just like I enjoy hearing you go into detail about my favorites.

Thanks for the videos, Anthony!

None of these Classics Week's classics were on my all-time favourite list. But I'm glad that Anthony made me discover (or rediscover) them, because that's the only reason why I subscribed.

Nina is one of my favourite artists. I do suggest people to listen to Sinnerman and her live version of Ain't Got No, I got life.

I don't know why people want to hear more people talk about Kid A and other "internet classics" that have already been lauded to death. Find something new, people, it's good for you.

Listened to this album before watching and as soon as I heard Sinnerman I recognised it from adverts straight away :o A very unconventional, hypnotic jazz composition..

Thanks for the reviews this week, Anthony. I'm only 16 so I haven't heard a lot about these older musicians like Nina and Johnny Cash - it's cool to be able to be exposed to it all, since I'm definitely a bigger fan of more classic stuff. While it would have been cool to hear your thoughts on what I consider to be all time greats, like Pet Sounds or Kid A, I definitely appreciate that you've chosen to take a look at some of the more niche records as well. Maybe next year you'll be able to find a perfect balance between the two, and everyone will be happy and focus on the music rather than complaining and arguing.
