This video feels like a time capsule. Also, how did I get here?

This review is too outdated. It's amazing now

I've had this since day after release, and I've played it every day since. I've never been this addicted to a game, particularly one that has no clear goal. I can see why it's such a hit on the PC.

if you are not into explore and building things, it could be a problem - but you should give it a try. You can get a beta version free on a pc(most laptop works fine)
Everything crafted has its own unique function and items to find. At the start of a new generated world, u basically ahve to craft basic tiems of survival - sword for fiting creeps, axe for getin wood, pickaxe for mining. Before the nite comes, u have to build shelter. During the nite, u can make a furnace and cook things

In the end, what im tryin to say is minecraft sets its competitors apart for being true to the "you wana do something in this huge world(ex: farming, exploring, eating, building, mining, etc) you have to work for it. No do A to get B. Sense of acomplishment after geting to do even trivial daily tasks(collecting wheat form farm and planting seeds, breeding animals) is satisfying. Minecraft is different and original, its simple yet complex, its crafting is time consuming but satisfying

exploring caves will net you more valuable items to be crafted - upgrade your wepaonry, crafting more useful items for daily uses(ex: complicated items like compass, electrical based items(this whole system is complicated in itself as youre dealing with circuits and mechanisms).
Many games strive on being an open world and you are free to do anything. At the end of the day, most of the things you do is just the simple do A to get B.

I agree, he forgot to mention that the developers even stated that Minecraft for the Xbox 360 would be getting updates to keep it along side the PC version of it. I think that it was a little to early to be giving this version a review, and low score for such a high deserving game.

Guys this review has been done before all the updates they did. They do now have sprint and creative mode other than survival mode. There is an ender dragon in the game now to. It is just as good as the PC version, it just takes time for it to be updated and updates will be constant for the xbox 360 version.

Infinite ways to not get lost in the pc version, it includes but not limited to memorizing the map, making a trail of torchlights/blocks, crafting a map, and modding. There are mods that let you make a mini-map on the screen.

I hope you guys know that they will be releasing the updates in time. Notch didn't want to put the full version out yet because he was not sure that minecraft on the 360 would sell well.

Thats completely right. And mojang have said that the 360 version will become up to date this summer

There has been a lot of updates now! The game is awesome and being a long time Xbox player I prefer the 360 edition and can't wait to get it on the Xbox One!

Splitscreen in anygame is an amazing feature.

Knowing there's updates coming doesn't mean putting off the review. He could have at least mentioned that the current XBL version is to eventually incorporate all elements of the PC version.

While the PC version has all the mods and latest updates, I much prefer the xbox 360s simplified crafting system.

Reason why I love Gamespot: they don't hold most things back. They actually give reviews that are, you know, REVIEWS? And not butt kissing videos the entire way through?

Not forgetting there is an option on the menu for downloadable content, I am sure we will see many new features gracing this port soon enough. I am very happy with my purchase and I already have that Tetris feeling, dreaming about the game etc..., what I would like though is to meet some people to play online with, I only have a few friends playing and are still getting use to it, if you fancy teaming up give me a shout on live Tag: The Dark Fenix just let me know you found me here.

This game is not meant for PC players that play minecraft to convert to Xbox 360 edition. It's meant to be played by people who can't or are more comfortable playing on a xbox I bought Minecraft on Xbox for both reasons. My laptop already has problems and slow as it is. It does bother me a little that it is missing some key elements that makes this game what it is but I am hopeful for DLC and updates that will fill in those elements. If not well I can adjust to how it is. So far I'm addicted.

HAcking is essentially the same as modding, both are to enhance you're experience with a particular game.

Plus, there's very little they can do about the smaller world sizes, the Xbox just doesn't have the memory it needs to generate larger worlds, also take into account the fact that Mobile Edition shipped with almost no content, and as of the latest update (April 24, 2012) there are still major content pieces being added (for example, this update just added Cows and Chickens).
