LRF - Shell Drum Play Through

The new LRF song was tracked using the new(ish) Roland setup which is a combo of TD27KV2 and VAD504 parts (with some larger cymbals). Might post a gear rundown for the recording process soon, super stoked with how it came out (thanks to Feff's mix too).

I’ll still be running the trusty Pearl/Zildjian/Remo combo for live shows of course, but it has a really fun process to use the e-kit for studio sessions.

So recently watched Pertzborn on Drumeo talk about punk playing in OS. He identifies the Moeller technique as a way to play 16th notes (assuming easier). As a self identified crappy punk rock drummer who's been playing for 25 years, its all bugged me when non-punk drummers come into the space, and to me it often ruins the bands sound (because we hear the shortcuts as drummers). Now Pertzborn is an amazing drummer and no disrespect at all, but it highlighted why its so important to have punk roots when playing punk rock. Onto my point...I've been following you for many years and you've got to be one of the best punk drummers on the planet. Not only in raw mechanical ability but in the creative fills and groves within that punk space. Much love from a crappy punk drummer to a great punk drummer.

I love this.

I feel like I tend to thing of genres like jazz and metal as having pretty creative and technical drumming but less so with punk despite there being some awesome punk drummers out there. The drumming in this is awesome though - I think it's technically impressive while remaining very catchy and creative too. Been watching you do covers for years but I think this might be my first time hearing your own stuff and I'm looking forward to hearing more. Keep up the good work!
