Why We Love Muscovy Ducks

I live in an apartment complex in north Florida and we have a flock of feral Muscovy ducks and I absolutely love them. They are super chill and so darn cute. They have been here for years and are thriving.

Hi my husband rescued a female muscovy that was wandering by a busy road junction last year. He grabbed it and put it on a neighbour's pond. For a few days, the duck was nervous but grew in confidence and everyday on our morning walk, she would swim over with tail wagging to be fed with chicken food or worms he would dig for her.
Other wild ducks would come to the pond but she was the boss and looked serene swimming round the pond.
She disappeared for a few days then re-appeared with a horrendous facial wound and looked like she was now sadly blind - we believe someone threw a firework at her but she struggled on for a week or so then husband and I trapped her to take her to a vet.
Sadly there was nothing they could do and she was put down - our morning walks are defineitly not the same without her paddling furiously over to come and get food off us.

Domestic muscovies have the same genetics as their wild cousins, that's why they have perfect wild instinct to raise ducklings. Because they are great to hatch ducklings, they are omnivores and extremely hardy, muscovies are the best self sustainable duck to have on property

Hi Julian, I love muscovey ducks no matter how dirty they may get. I keep their surroundings clean and give them plenty of water. I even like the smell of them and love looking for nests if they're running wild, they make wonderful pets and very friendly. Enjoyed your video very much and enjoy their company to humans. My neighbor rescued a Muscovy duck his name is pipito he is very social and loves being around people he is all black he will come up to you and hang out with you and I see him just roaming outside at dinner and he is really cute

Great video! I learned a couple of things. I recently got 3 Muskovy ducks & I love them. They are sooo cute. I have chickens, 2 dogs, 2 cats & a small fish pond too. I would have more animals if I didn’t live in the city limits.

Livestock guardian dogs will stop your predator problem. It worked immediately on our ranch!

i just moved into a new apartment complex and they have 3 fountains that have these kinda ducks all around! came here to find out more about them cuz i wanna take care of them but seems they are super easy to take care of themselves lol

I have a few muscovie ducks and they dont like if i try to pet them but with a little snack i can pet them a few times, and abt 2-3 months later now i can pet them without any snack. But ofc i five them cuz they earned it
