Sorta true. You can protect the leader from a follower fall by placing a progress capture on a piece (or bolt) after a harder section. If the follower falls they’re on toprope and it won’t rip the leader off. Need to be careful about slack in the system using this technique, but it’s way safer. You can carry multiple progress captures to keep going with the same safety after the first one is cleaned.
