When acceleration is due to gravity we must sign on the basis eg when object is against gravity g Is negative ang when object follow g then it will be positive.

I AM HAVING A DOUBT IN THE LAST SOLVED Q3 50:30 A BOY STANDING AT THE TOP OF A TOWER OF 20M HEIGHT DROPS A STONE. WHAT IS THE VELOCITY WITH WHICH IT HITS THE (g=10m/s²)
So here the stone is dropped from height 20m that means the direction is downwards so the sign of acceleration should be negative right? Why is it not so ??
