In this episode I asked and interviewed digital nomads how they make money from a remote island in Brazil.

After my first series asking digital nomads how they make money in Bali I decided to create a another season now from an island in Brazil, called Florianópolis. This time I will interview another very interesting digital nomads and I will ask all the questions you guys commented in the Bali video.

A lot of people often think that Digital nomads don't work or either make money in suspicious ways. But there is a whole world of them so I thought of sharing some of the people I interviewed and what they do. Here are the people that I met:

0:00 Intro
0:55 Ori from Israel
5:07 Aisling from Ireland
09:10 Felipe from Brazil
11:42 Akira from Brazil
16:47 Victoria from Argentina

Great video, though a small correction.
Florianópolis is not a remote island, it is the capital of the state of Santa Catarina with over 600k people where I called home for over 30 years of my life.
Still a ridiculously beautiful place, but it is not remote at all. 🙂

I'm American and also living in Brazil. I love it and due to the 5:1 currency exchange, my American salary allows me to have a extremely comfortable lifestyle. My apartment condo is 5 minutes from the beach and everything else I need is walking distance away. Just keep in mind if you're not in some kind of nomad hub, Portuguese will be necessary. I speak the language well and married a native who does not speak a single word of English.

Florianópolis can be anything but remote. The island has half a million inhabitants and is the capital of the state of Santa Catarina and can be considered a metropolis, since the only thing that divides it from the mainland cities is a bridge.

On the first Israeli guy, a ppc manager can make $72, 071 a year on average and senior ppc managere can make $97, 000–$162, 000. This is not including high performing media buyers who exceed the average in making $500k+ on the right offer.

Chief answer: They come from well to do families and have trust funds to draw from and networking connections to keep the money flowing from the rubes.

Great video, to let you know I just retired to Brazil from USA, the truth is that

There is never any culture of wealth gathering or wealth creation to keep multiplying your money in any country that lacks an investment value Instead of saving money in the bank or working to pay bills. This means, if you want to be successful you must be an investor. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life too 🙏🙏🙏

The nomads here are a lot more grounded and legitimate than the video I seen in Bali. All very nice people.

Calling Florianopolis a “remote island” is funny 😂
Best city in Brazil by far, and definitely in the top 3 in latin America

That was the city I experienced the digital nomad lifestyle for the first time! Then I ended up traveling to Curitiba, Sao Paulo, Ubatuba and IlhaBela. All amazing places to experience different kinds of lifestyles in Brazil! 🇧🇷

My, it's astonishing how people manage to work outdoors in such sunny weather! I've attempted it a few times myself, but I couldn't see what was happening on my screen. It seems you need a special skill to really work under these condition😮

Baita vídeo e cheio de belas informação Rafa, não da bola pra quem foca em pequenas incoerências como chamar Floripa de remota, só um detalhe.

I think a good question to ask would be security of the equipment (laptops, cameras...etc.) while living in a shared dorm (Hostel)? I know that most of the Hostels that I booked had almost zero security and no lockers. Great video! I was surprised by some of the monthly income! More than most people that I know that live in expensive cities like LA and Vegas.

Very cool. In my early 40s in about 2016, I retired and had some connections (completely legal) in South America that I visited. I was mainly in Medellin and saw the early versions of the digital nomad which sparked interest in the phenomenon. Most were tech workers. When I went broke and went back to work I remembered the nomads and got into tech. Still hoping to be a digital nomad, but everyone in America now wants to be a digital nomad in software engineering or in data analytics or cybersecurity. I think you would have to build a successful freelance biz or find an increasingly rare accommodative employer to make it work. For now, I am stuck at a corporate complex living the grind, on call. Cheers to the successful digital nomads.
