Operator Positioning for Cavity Preparation Along With Finger Rest and Body Posture

"There are 4 different types of chair position in dentistry Right front (7 o’clock) , Direct right (9 o’clock), Right rear (11 o’clock) and Direct rear (12 o’clock) position.
Right front position – used for treating mandibular anterior teeth,mandibular right posterior teeth and maxillary anterior teeth.
Direct right position- used for treating facial surface of maxillary and mandibular right posterior teeth.
Right rear position- most commonly used position as it helps in providing good access to most areas of oral cavity.
Direct rear position- used for working on lingual surface of mandibular anterior teeth.
Good cavity preparation requires correct operator positioning and proper handling of mouth mirror as mouth mirrors apart from providing indirect vision also provides good amount cheek retraction.
Operator positioning not only helps in cavity preparation but helps in maintaining a proper body posture, increased comfort , lack of pain and reduced stress levels."
