Settling a case usually means a full and final closure, and it's typically impossible to reopen your case or receive any further compensation for your injury after the settlement is complete. There are options such as an indemnity only section 32 agreement, which only closes the financial portion of your case and leaves the medical part open, but most workers comp settlements are closed forever. You also need to have good negotiation skills if you want to settle your case for what it's worth, because it's a challenge to effectively negotiate with insurance companies who have skilled adjusters and attorneys who negotiate settlements every day. Without the proper skills, you'll likely end up leaving money on the table.
