How to become a top 1% student and be best-in-class at school and university? How to get straight A’s in your exams regularly? How to improve your grades and GPAs? These questions are important, because excellent school, college and university degrees and academic excellence as a top student will open many doors for you during your academic and professional career. This also applied to myself: In order to enter McKinsey & Company, the world’s largest management consulting firm, excellent academic credentials are a prerequisite, given that McKinsey only hires 1% of its applicants.

In this video, I therefore share with you my 12 top tips and strategies on how to become a top 1% student at school and university. I believe that everyone can be a strong student and academic top performer if you only apply the right set of learning strategies, which I teach you in this video! I initially share my own GPAs from university and high school to prove that I know that what I am talking about. Then, I share my 12 top tips on how to become a best-in-class student at school and college and achieve top degrees at university.

Great video, Jörg! I liked that you focused on the attitude and habits toward studying, rather than learning techniques. This is the foundation. If you are not motivated no learning strategy will help. However, my two key learning strategies were:
1) to fully understand concept I used self explanation and then for remembering those concepts
2) spaced repetition with active recall for flashcards (e.g. Anki).

In the end it is quite simple, the more effort you put into learning the more you get out of it!

As a top 1% student myself and academic scholar at imperial what I did was just cramming.
I would do periods of partying for about 10 weeks. Then about 6 weeks of living like a hermit by myself doing about 7 hours a day of focused work

On a side note, I found that being successful in the real world after school is quite different from being successful at school. How did this transition go for you?
