This is a good video essay. May I ask what do you use to edit, software, etc?

His Othello is very good. It has strange but very good editing and some of the best scenes i have ever seen in any film. I think that Citizen Kane, Ambersons, Othello, F for Fake, Touch of evil and Othello are his masterpieces. He also made amazing film for tv in the 50s which is called The Foutain of youth.

I think the Magnificent Ambersons was his best film.

I've seen that movie, and I disagree with Wells. This movie is too bleak, too hopeless, too dark, and empty.
It has no real point in my opinion. It can mean almost anything dark.
That's not entertainment. And there is nothing uplifting about it.
All his other movies are dark as well.
Except for the Magnificent Ambersons. The ending of that movie left the viewer with a sense of purpose and hope for the future of the characters. Which to me makes the whole thing worthwhile.
