I’d recommend watching the movies starting from the original trilogy and then moving onto the prequel trilogy. I’d do this because the original trilogy relies on the unknown a bit and has that charm to it where it builds the universe. The prequels then go and build onto the established universe of the originals. It’s kind of like the originals give you the questions and the prequels give you the answers. You always want to start with the questions before the answers. If you start with all the answers from the prequels, it spoils the mystery and unknown of the originals and then the originals become bland to watch because you already know what happened and why.

Start with 4 5 end on THE cliffhanger then go to 1 2 3 to see down fall then back to 6 for the redemption

My brain needs it in chronological order

According to Lucas, his intent is that they be watched chronologically.

I prefer release order. In my mind a good prequel is viewed with the understanding that you have seen the originals. Plus Episode 5 loses a lot of punch if you already know.

That said the order 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6 also works well. You get the big mix drop, get the backstory and then watch the climax and redemption of Vader

Star Wars. The Empire Strikes Back. Return Of The Jedi. That's it. Make sure you watch Ady Wan's re-edited versions.

Machete Order. 4-5-1-2-3-6. You can also throw Rogue One into the beginning because that leads directly into New Hope and sets up Vader as TERRIFYING when he makes his appearance on the Tantive IV.

If you’re a first time watcher, watch in release order. Each movie builds on what the previous introduces. You learn about the Galaxy in each movie in an organic way.

Then, everytime you watch them for the rest of your life, chronological order. There’s no secrets, no mysteries. Just a fantastic 6 part movie.

Ignore the Disney era. It’s garbage and should be ignored… which Disney is doing to be honest.

Was there actually a reason for doing 4-6 first?

If you watch from Ep 1, then you will know who Darth Vader is so the Ep 5 revelation will be lost. The whole SW universe was built upon that fact so no. If Im showing SW to my kids or anyone for the first time ever, Im showing them A new hope.

obviously episode 1 in order... i mean, . its a timescale.

Watching chronological order is kinda bad because you can see where the effects go from practical and lively to cgi and kinda weird feelings

Theirs definitely a right way to do it. You start with 4, watch 5 and 6. Follow it up with 1 through 3. Then read thrawn trilogy; heir to the empire, dark force rising, last command. Start working your way from their through all the books that take place after the battle of yavin, ABY. And as far as BBY, you can read in any order. Also after the thrawn trilogy you can jump around with books covering ABY as well, because everything that refers back to a previous book is explained enough that you won’t be completely lost. Unfortunately if you find yourself watching 7, 8, and 9, you’ve failed, delete those movies from your memory and return to reading the extended universe.

Just watch 1 through 3 then Rouge one the 4-6….. Disney Star Wars doesn’t matter

Just watch the original trilogy in the unmolested form and be done with it.

For me, disregard The Akolyte, start with The Phantom Menace. Advance to Attack of the Clones, watch The Clone Wars, then watch Revenge of the Sith. Watch Rebels and Solo (Solo is optional). Rogue 1 and A New Hope back to back. Then Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The Mandalorian to finish it. Completely disregard the sequel trilogy. Maybe watch Ahsoka.

You've got to start with R1, then episode 4, 5, 6 ...then 1, 2, 3
