Unity 2017 Timeline Editor

This is a video tutorial about the new Unity 2017 timeline editor fetaure (which can be used also with the new Cinemachine asset) for creating Cutscenes with Unity.

In the next tutorial on Unity 2017.1 I will extend this project and use Cinemachine to add a virtual camera to the timeline.

00:20 : The animations of the fbx model
00:45 : Create the Playable in the Timeline Editor
01:35 : Add animation clips to the playable
02:42 : Blending animation in the timeline editor
03:20 : Recording animations
05:55 : Play the cutscene

You need to install at least the Unity 5.6 Timeline Experimental Preview Beta for this:

But now Unity 2017.1 is available so you just have to download this:

I have tried this in Unity 2017.1.0f1. I'm really impressed about the new feature as I can finally do cutscene animation/short film animation in Unity without using After Effects because I rig and animate my 2D characters in Unity for a game and through this I might as well use Unity for making a short animated film! So far I haven't encountered any bug on the timeline feature which is great. The only missing feature that I only need will be the video output feature which will be released in the stable 2017.1 this month. HYPE!

Hello, this is a great tutorial for starters, thank you very much. But I have a question about it for humanoid characters. I applied the tutorial to a humanoid character, it works fine if I don't move the position of the character. the character starts with sitting, stands up, then starts walking(walking in place though) But when I try to add key frames I get an error like, key frames not works on humanoid rig, so I changed the rigging to generic on my model. This time I was able to add key frames, and the character moves to the desired position but this time my animations are not showing, the character sits and moves all the way without playing anims. When I delete the frames layer on generic rig, anims still plays fine without moving positon. What can I be doing wrong?

Hello. Is there way to export animations created in unity to maya/3dsmax ? For example: I made a neat camera animation and want to track it im the maya and then to add some effects on postprocesing .

Hi, great video. I have tried to use it, but when it starts the animation it moves by itself and when another animation is played returns to original position, how can I make it not to move?

So... how do i use this timeline for a 2d mini cutscene? How can i use this timeline and remove the easing? Can i use different game objects in one timeline? Can i move one object's transform variable to another objects transform variable? How do i pause the timeline (as if im going to wait for the player to finish dialogue to got to the next timeline animation)?

Making a video on these things would be super helpful.

If by any chance you still have this Timeline Experimental Preview Beta package could you please share it?
I have to work on project in 5.6 but to my shock in the downloaded 5.6.0b6 there is no Timeline anymore.
They removed the separate timeline installer package from the servers. And removed it from 5.6.0b6 instalation too.
I found myself in desperate situation with this "surprise' from Unity devs.
If you still have it on your pc please please share it!
