Unboxing: BRAND NEW Barbie Extra #3 & #4 | An Attempt Was Made

Today I'm reviewing the last two dolls from the first wave of Barbie Extra. I am an adult doll collector and this review is intended for adults in the doll collecting hobby.

I think Mattel should do a line that reuses their older sculpts. Like Modern Circle. What I want is a petite m2m Francie, she would awesome. Francie always sold well for Mattel. Well until the oil crisis of the early 70's ruined the Mod Party.

I love #4's tomboyish vibe. Plus her hair type is so unique and the powder blue color is to die for.

I got curious and looked up "pearl frame round sunglasses" and eventually found that Chanel made a pair of those sunglasses in 1994, and they're still being knocked off in human size today (and I fully suspect some celebrity or influencer I've never heard of has worn them recently), so Mattel & MGA are both copying someone else.

Oh gosh I have the 3rd doll in the collection, and I am very disappointed🥲 I mean her hair was amazing, but the face and the outfit without the fur are just basic and doesn’t have character in it. But I appreciate that mattel is trying to somehow compete with other doll lines, it’s just doesn’t kinda work because people are so used to the low quality that they are expecting everything that mattel releases have crappy outfits.

I have#1 & #3. I had to do a repaint on her eyes and lips .no pixels after that. She looks fab now. I've added eyelashes to both and glossy varnish on eyes and lips.

The barbie EXTRA #3 sunglasses are actually not copied from LOL, Rihanna actually wore that style of glasses first, just look up
"Rihanna pearl sunglasses". Honestly MGA is known for knocking off/being inspired by real life fashion for their dolls, most notably Rainbow High. So yeah...

This barbie (#3) is cute. Don't know why the actual barbie is not number 1. Love her hair, jewelry, and outfit. It's cute that she has such a big "Barbie" necklace.

I’m actually one of the people who like doll number 4 cuz of her casual style the only problem I have is the rooting of her hair.

I have found #4 in a car boot sale last Sunday. She is only wearing the shorts and top. Surprisingly, I really like her. I thought she was very ugly when I was seeing her in shops in her box. I am very surprised to like her out of box. I am not keen on her clothes but I think most Barbie Extra outfits are hideous. Her hair is great and the one I found is not bald. I also like that she does not have pixelated eye make up. It ruins the dolls for me if it is too obvious. I am pleased to have her in my collection. I would have never adopted her in other circumstances because she truly looks awful in box and with all the pieces of her outfit. It is a bit too "extra"!

Possibly they made the blue ones skincolor on the head brown because noone has natural blue hair and they will show us she colored her hair. I have a Fashionistas with light pink hair in a leo outfit and she has also brown skincolor.

i wish there were barbie extra dolls where i live but i believe they would be $40 but if i could afford it eventually i wouldn’t mind getting one of them. you can recommend me your most favorite if you think they’re worth it. 💕

Mattel got to a point where the same shit: mermaid, fairy, princess was not impressive anymore. The other shiit: unicorn is a fail.
'When Mattel was not stealing other's ideas?' There was a time when Barbie dolls were unique in style and creativity, 80s, 90s and earlier 00s.
Extra is a copy that fails to impress. Big Pixels are mad garbage, but people like to support Barbie even when Mattel shits and care no respect to kids or collectors. Extra is a step foward, but offers less for more. RH dolls do 10x more quality and acessories for less.
Mattel has to improve, but that wont happen.
