Architect and Interiors India hosted the fifth webinar in its series on Designing for a New World – Post COVID-19, on September 16, 2020. The episode, which was presented by Sisecam Flat Glass, witnessed a detailed discussion on parametric architecture and its present role in design, both in the Indian and global context. Leading names in the field came together and put forth their individual views on the subject.

The panel discussion was moderated by Bibhor Srivastava, group publishing director, ITP Media (India). Starting out with their interpretation of parametric architecture, each panellist presented the work that they have carried out in this area, and the range was truly impressive. From using computational design for the creation of a trophy to employing parametric design for large-scale public projects, the panellists demonstrated the complexity, diversity and scalability of the technique. Explaining the advantages of parametric design and showcasing its varied uses, the speakers underlined exactly why architects have been increasingly embracing this versatile design tool. They also answered multiple questions from the audience, on topics ranging from the materials best suited for this method to the use of Artificial Intelligence within this realm, and also what the future holds for parametric architecture.
