Parametric architecture is a process based on algorithmic thinking in which a series of parameters and rules together define and clarify the relationship between "design goal" and "design result". Parametric design is a design paradigm in which relationships between elements determine the reproduction of geometry and complex forms. The word parametric originates from the subject of "parametric equation" in mathematics and refers to the use of certain parameters and variables that can be changed to edit the result of a system or equation. Parametric design is not a new idea and has shaped a part of architecture and design since ancient times.
