The scene when Ruth confronted the Byrdes about Wyatts deaths was chilling. That one scream alone was Emmy worthy. You could feel the rage, sadness, and confusion in that one scene. Incredible acting and direction.

The fact that so many hated the Wendy character, says EVERYTHING about Laura Linney and her immense talent!

I for one was damn near heartbroken at Ruth's death. That's how attached I got to her. I would watch every season hoping nothing happened to her. That ending hurt.

One thing that I haven't heard and just thought of: Having Ruth killed by Camilla is really interesting because they are both female heirs to dysfunctional patriarchies. They both killed people in their families to protect what they cared about or were building for themselves. I wish there was a way that they might have highlighted that connection just a little bit. Camilla maybe saying, "In a different life, I might have enjoyed doing business with you. From what I hear, we've made a lot of the same choices." Ruth: "Look, are we gonna do this shit or not?"

To hate a character like Wendy it just shows how talented Laura is. Team Wendy all day. ❤️

I hated Wendy more and more as the show went on, but I can recognize how great of an actor Laura is. She managed to make me, and many others, feel something strong towards a fictional character.

I studied the anatomical entry location of the bullet that hit Ruth. I'm a health care professional in the Cardiac field. The bullet does not appear to hit the heart. It would have definitely hit the upper left lobe of the lung. And it likely hit either the pulmonary artery or the aorta. If it hit the lung she can live easily. If it hit the pulmonary artery the mortality rate is 14-37%. If it hit the aorta mortality rate is 92-100% So there is room for Ruth to recover if a 5th season was added.

What a great show. Here is my alternate ending:

Claire Shaw doesn't finger Ruth but later on that night she tells Camilla it was Wendy. Camilla to really get back at Wendy kills Marty and the kids but leaves her alive to suffer the loss like she has. We see Wendy covered in blood, broken and distraught walking alone, past the casino and off the road to nowhere. Fade to black.
Then on the screen it reads: 15 years later... We see a beautiful blonde woman dressed like a socialite on her way to a gala. As she's walking a model looking man in a perfect suit and 2 perfect kids roll up to her. He kisses her while the kids hug her and say I love you mommy. They pass by the bell with a sign on it now that reads Langmore's Missouri Belle. We see the whole area is now built up with stores up and down the street. Sitting on the sidewalk right past the Belle is a totally disheveled homeless woman mumbling to herself. She looks up: it's Wendy Byrde, the perfect family is walking by and she asks them for some change. The little boy asks her mom "can we help her mommy?" We now see the woman is Ruth. She looks down at Wendy, lowers her sunglasses and stares for a few seconds. She then turns to her son and says "Oh Ben, you are such a good person but some people just can't be helped"
They keep on walking to a Cadillac SUV parked right there and the driver opens the door for the family, they are all smiles while they get in and the door closes and it drives off. The camera turns back to Wendy, she's still mumbling to herself making no sense, the camera pans out showing her smaller and smaller while we see the Ozarks for one last time. The End.
Okay thanks for indulging me, I just keep thinking Wendy was the one who really needed the comeuppance and Ruth needed to live and rise up past her beginnings.

I loved Ruth. She was courageous and so strong. Even in the end she was so damn strong to face death. I noticed the duality in that scene as well. Camilla was in black and Ruth was in white. I was sad she died.. Jason Bateman is the GOAT. He's my favorite too.

I think Marty was a likable character from the start. Let’s not forget how this series started with Wendy cheating on Marty. Their circumstances came from a result of that and Marty doing everything he could to protect his family. I didn’t want her to die but I was hoping Marty and the kids would leave her in the end.

I absolutely loved Ozark. I was obsessed with it!! In a good way. All the characters were terrific. My favorite was Ruth so the ending was just horrific for me but I understand why she had to die. I did live her courage to the end. If I could be anyone I would like to be Ruth. So gutsy and brave. So she was until her end. Congrats to everyone who participated in the making of Ozark!

I love unsettling series with heavily flawed and in-depth characters. This was one of the all-time best TV shows ever. Dark, poignant, great characters, and just a depth of surprises and actions beyond the realm of belief. Way to go.
