[ *UPDATE* ] Kathleen Martinez and her team are still digging. In November they found gold pieces, face masks, and part of a necklace. Just yesterday she found two perfectly intact mummies!

Updated from 2021: Kathleen Martinez found a mummy with a gold tongue in one of the tombs. The other 15 burials also date back around 2, 000 years and contain remarkable treasure. In one, a female mummy is wearing a death mask that covers much of her body and depicts her with a headdress while smiling. Excavation of the site and analysis of the remains is still ongoing.

I think it's so beautifully iconic that a strong and determined woman like Kathleen may just be the person to discover the tomb of a strong and determined woman such as Cleopatra. This is perfect.

what if kathleen martinez is cleopatra reincarnated trying to find her own body in this modern world is why she is so determined and sure her tomb is near by plus she is as intelligent as cleopatra was, graduated law school at 18 with a master's degree in finance and a master's degree in archaeology, yo i have a funny far fetched idea that she low key cleopatra driven to find her own tomb to put her mind and soul at ease lol

This woman is amazing.
Even if she doesn't find Cleopatra's tomb. She an criminal lawyer, doing this in her spare time. Has proved wrong professional qualified archiologists by proving it wasn't just an unfinished temple.

A brilliant, intelligent and determined woman, who no doubt faced being dismissed by many, many ( male ) archeologists, but she believed in her instincts and her scrupulous research. Her discoveries so far have firmly cemented her reputation as a serious Egyptologist - absolutely fascinating, and thanks for posting :)

I love the fact that she showed up all the "experts" that not all the discoveries of Egypt have not been found. So much for "experts."

Idk but I think Cleo did not committed suicide. She's a smart woman and dying for a man is the last thing she would do. She was highly capable, she was a queen, she was a mother, she was a billonaire in her time. Which means she was very influential and she had lots of loyal slaves and followers. People in her time are very monotonuous. They serve their masters until their last breaths. It would have been easy for Cleo to fake her death she had thousands of slaves she might have sacrificed one that resembled her, have someone spread about it, bribed officials to confirm her death (which prolly they took the secret to their grave), and she escaped disguised as a commoner off to somewhere else. A smart queen like her would have easily survived living in neighboring lands as she spoke lots of languages. She prolly brought enough of her jewels for sustainance, and brought closest of her slaves and guards and they lived quite normal lives. OR Octavian may have ordered to murder her but failed to do so as she fled prior. And to console his ego, he had to write history saying she killed herself. It's a form of insult to convey a powerful queen taking her own life for a man with a lower status than her. Which explains why they haven't found her tomb. But idk tho 'cause I ain't historian. Just my two cents. 😂

I'm currently an intern in my country's national museum archaeological division. Been really thinking if I should really pursue and further my knowledge in archaeology. And this archaeologist Kathleen really inspires me to study hard and be an archaeologist.

Imagine the ancient Egyptians did all this to preserve their bodies and their culture because they knew in the future a more advanced civilisation would find them and their culture could go on and live for ever in history as they are actually doing now it’s just mind blowing and fascinating, I love it ❤️

There should be a follow up from this, especially when Kathleen just found 2 possible tombs. After watching this video, I believe that Kathleen is on the right track in finding Cleopatra's tomb. I hope that she does, because it will give us more insight on the Great Egyptian Queen. Kathleen has done a wonderful job so far in this discovery, for being a Criminal Lawyer, where the Archeologist have failed to find.

Fabulous documentary, amazing woman. She made me question what else "experts" overlooked not just in archaeology but in other areas too.
