A list of products WITH sulfates and silicones but WITHOUT fragrance or scent - I think many of us would be forever grateful if you made this!!!

For me, I was doing the curly girl method. It works in places where the weather is perfect, but god forbid I live in a place with ultra soft water and humid weather. Switching back to using sulfates and silicones was the best thing I ever did for my hair

I’m so glad to hear people say silicone is not bad. The products I’ve used with silicone in them give my hair the best results when I blow dry it straight.

Yep! Exactly that. I tried the Curly Girl method and thus avoiding sulfates. Enthousiastically threw away all my drugstore stuff and buying high-end alternatives. My scalp became very itchy, dry, dandruff, hairloss (!) dry hair. HORRIBLE! It took me over a year to figure out that these non-sulfate products were not cleaning my scalp properly and therefore causing all the problems. Thank you for pointing this out!

I’ve been hooked for well over a year now to using the Tea Tree Lavender Shampoo/Conditioner because it’s always worked like a charm. I don’t use any oils, leave ins etc. I’m a newborn in the hair care world and I’m ready to start my journey! Of course, once winter hits, my scalp screams for moisture but I’ve always been nervous on what is “right” for my hair/scalp during the cold months. I just found your channel tonight and I swear God sent you to me. I am so thankful!!! I’ve been scrolling for over an hour now & tomorrow, I’m going shopping!! I’ve learned SO much! Bless you beautiful girl! ❤

That is so so true.
People act like sulfate is the devil and avoid them as their enemy while eating McDonald's that god knows what is inside them 😂

I have bleached hair I’ve been getting consistent heavy highlights done for 10 plus years! My hair is in good condition it’s not incredible or anything but it’s nice, healthy, shiny and soft. I’ve been using drugstore shampoos I’ve mainly used L’Oréal and Biolage! I also have well water with a water softener and I truly believe our water makes the biggest difference. I notice when traveling or staying at a friends/relatives who have public water the difference is night and day with my hair and my skin!

I’m still waiting for some kind of chart with your recommendations for different types of hair! I’m 49 and have been battling against my hair for as long as I can remember

Bumble and Bumble. I used them for years and recently it just made my hair frizzy and dry. I switched to the Odele line at Target and my hair is shiny, soft and more manageable

About 5 yrs ago my hair turned curly and I jumped on the sulfate/silicone free bandwagon. I kept thinking my hair would get better using these products but NOPE. I started back using sulfate shampoo a couple times a month and put silicone back in my products. My hair started doing so much better. A lot of the credit goes to you Abbey. You made me see the light. Thanks for all you do.

Same! I switched to Monat when it got popular. I got back on drugstore silicones and sulfates and my hair is finally back to great.

I think this happen mostly with all the curly hair care trends… I’ve spent much money and time with these products and only got really flat hair that felt greasy with loads of scalp issues.
As soon as I go back to my usual drugstore products I go back to normal!
I’m not spending any more time and money on all the other stuff.

I spent over $100 on curlsmith and used those products only for a month. My hair was dry and frizzy and felt like straw. I finally went back to using Verb and moroccanoil and my hair was back to normal instantly. 100 percent agree that silicones are the best thing for my hair, followed by sulfates to wash them out. I was influenced by tiktok since I just started my curly hair journey 6 months ago, I wanted to know how to get the best natural curls and they were all preaching the cgm so I went all out and followed all their rules. After a month I couldn't take it anymore. I even got 4 inches cut off and still didn't work. Goodbye cgm and welcome back silicones!!

So my hair doesn't have any kind of chemical treatment. Last year, I switched from Prose to Redken Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, I used the Colorfanatic Leave-In conditioner, Redken Big Blowout, and Olaplex 7. My roots were super oily, and my ends super dry. I switched to JVN because his product are supposed to have gentler ingredients and I would hear my hair snapping off. I had a lot of breakage using JVN. I switched back to Redken, and got into the hang of it and learned the Purology leave-in was the reason my roots were oily, even though I only applied to mid length and ends. I used Kenra Leave-in and it was so light. I was able to extend my wash for 2 days instead of every other day. So now I use Kenra Volumizing shampoo and conditioner, Kenra leave-in conditioner, Olaplex 6, Redken Big Blowout, Kenra Silkening Serum, and finish my styling with Olaplex 7.

I've been loving my Redken shampoo, pureology leave in conditioner and redken blow dry cream. Also olaplex no 3 has been good. Even though I've had to spend £100 on hair care, I'm hoping it'll be worth it. It's early days though and I have extreme breakage around my crown which is what I'm trying to fix. It's not gonna happen overnight.

From a hairdresser of 20 years... sulfate free shampoos are only really useful for "High Maintenance Color's" that fade fast. Ie: fashion color. Otherwise... I absolutely HATE Sulfate Free products. When product companies 1st originally introduced shampoos without sulfates... it was mainly because they pushed the idea that "sulfates cause cancer". That's seriously what a few professional products distributors told us. I couldn't help but roll my eyes. And he'll, you NEVER KNOW, anything could cause Cancer. But pushing the idea that soaps/detergents cause Cancer, so they can sell new products... is pretty damn low, if you ask me. Thankfully that ended quickly, and the started to push the fact that it can help the longevity of Fashion Color's. Which IS true. The less it's washed with "regular"/non color safe shampoo ... the longer the color will last. But there are also negatives to only using sulfate free shampoos too.

I literally use whatever, and my hair always looks gorgeous. In lockdown, I stopped dyeing it (used various ginger box dyes my whole life), and it is, weirdly, the same texture.

My hair is down to my bum, I trim it myself, wear it mostly in a bun and sleep with a bun (using 1 hair stick), and when it needs to look good - I just let it down, and BOOM, gorgeous waves.

Funny ongoing thing - usually after a concert (I'm a muso), at meet-n-greet people would comment on my hair, and one young girl literally grabbed it to check that it isn't a wig or extensions 😂

My great-grandmother's advise - wash you hair gently, use vinegar to rinse, let it dry as it is, wear it in a bun, and in generall - just abuse it less. Absolutely worked for me my whole life. Thanks GGM Ephrosynie!

I switched to Briogeo years ago and recently ran out so I used whatever drug store thing I could quickly get my hands on until I can get the good stuff again. Now I'm stuck working through a bottle of crap. I miss my briogeo so bad. Best hair care products I've ever tried!

Agree, I was using silicone-free products for awhile and had to quit because my hair was getting super frizzy. It wasn't the silicones making my hair dry and frizzy, it was the drying alcohols in my hairspray and also the bleaching I was doing for highlights. I quit bleaching my hair and went back to silicones, and my hair feels much better
