Vertical Litter Raise or Lower #1 | What's Wrong? | CMC

The positioning of the main and belay lines is extremely important when rigging for a vertical litter raise or lower. It is imperative that the belay line that is attached to the head end of the litter is positioned over the top of the mainline which is secured to the stanchion (cross tube) members on each side of the litter near the patient’s hips. This allows for the head end of the litter to rotate to a vertical position during edge transition.

The belay line and the tag line are both secured to the litter using a bowline-on-a-coil. You must use a designated main line and belay line during edge transitions whether raising or lowering. When both the designated main line and belay line are loaded and in contact with the edge protection, you can transition to a TTRS system if so desired.
