A1 owner here. This release is a slap to the face of humanity. They won't provide firmware updates. They won't provide "Animal/Bird Eye AF in Video", or Pre-Capture to the A1, while they give the original a7C this firmware for animal eye AF in Video, back in 12/21. Still no oversampled 4K30 video, unlike a7IV (7K downsample) or Z8 (8K downsample). As a Sony Professional Member with over $16, 000 invested in optics, I am about at the point of leaving Sony, due to their abhorrent firmware support for their "Flagship". Did Nikon advertise "Pre-Capture" at the point of sale for the Z9? NO!!!! They brought Pre-Capture in a firmware update after release. Sony A1 is fully capable of doing 0.5s JPEG Pre-Capture, but Sony would rather cripple A1 owners and give us a bad upgrade instead, when compared to the Z8 & R5ii.

You will have to give users a proper road map of update to retain loyalty.
The realeases in 2020-2021 were huge and blew away the competition, but the lack of updates has now made them fall short compared to the competition now.
A9iii is very impressive but very niche but the zv series which has been a recent focus doesn't really push much.

I hope the a7cii uses up the a7iv sensors so you guys can put out something fresh rather than a firmware update in a new body for the a7V

Another A1 owner here. My Sony A1 is at the technical service for the fourth time because it keeps blocking for no reason (they have changed the circuit, sensor and parts admitting their faults Sony in the repair document).

There have been endless factory faults with this camera and it is a shame because it gives a lot of quality but fails a lot for a 6000€ body 😢 (I have never had any problems with any of the other cameras I have).

There are many of us who are here and we continue like this, look on the internet and you will see the number of faults that this camera has had.

Sony A1 II is a classic example of the term 'Planned Obsolescence'. Sony could have easily come up with a *$7500 A1 II* harbouring a *50MP Global Shutter Sensor*; but why should they when they don't have any other company in the market to challenge their supremacy, as Canon releases a rubbish camera in the form of R1 after whining for a whopping 4 years. Canon knows it can't compete with Sony in the game of sensor technologies so it is now relying on strange lenses to stay competitive in the market, whereas Sony PERFECTLY knows how to take advantage by keeping their cameras barely above Canon and release the next iteration (A1 III) with a global Shutter.

I like that they included the dual USB PD battery charger with it. Hope they could do it as a bundle deal for the cameras below the A9 down to A7.

As an A1 owner iam pissed. This feels more like a software update mainly. Give your A1 owners pre capure and Animal AF via Software update. Do it, many will leave in favor Nikon & Canon in the long run.

That is how a dragonslayer gradually becomes the Sony....a revolutioner to a monopolist, showcasing the fact that it is now the leader in the mirrorless camera market... You could've given all these features to the old A1 as firmware but you chose to release a ridiculous new camera...you could've done more with that MX610 CMOS like bringing 8K60P video but you didn't because you have a cine line....well done Sony, remember every dynasty will have an end, no matter how prosperous it was

Give me Animal Eye AF first for my A1, than we can talk about new lenses and cameras. As long as there is no animal eye af they can release anything... i will not further invest in the system, the 600mm f4 stays long time on my list... but waiting for firmware Update.

If this does not happen i hold with my gear as long as i think i could benefit from newer tech.
