THANK The balance shoe pivot was partially broken off. I've been propping it up all these years, thinking that it would no longer work. Turned the pivot anyway with a screwdriver and it popped right back up! At least I bought some time while I get a replacement shoe.

THANK YOU! So much...one little turn of the screw driver and the balancer snapping back into place and fixed it perfectly. Now I can stop my search for some scrap wood to prop the window open 😂
