What ACTUALLY Happened To The Smiling Critters

The Smiling Critters is a popular plush line of colorful animals created by Playtime Co. who are infamous for their giant smiles. The group was teased in Project: Playtime Phase 2 via a poster in the "Destroy-a-Toy" map.

I think it was actually the prototype that killed KickinChicken. I also think that Craftycorn probably killed one of Miss Delight's sisters to use their blood for her painting and maybe to protect herself too

Has anyone mentioned the poppy door was different to the one we saw in the VHS tape with none of all the writing and whatnot on it after the hour of joy when everyone died? I mean if everyone was dead then how can there be all that writing put there after the hour of joy? Maybe the player was prophesied to go to the factory 10 years later so the thing that wrote that poppy door warnings were meant directly for the player...

My theory is that the cardboard cutout audio show the smiling critters talking during their escape from the playcare. Bubba died first while trying to distract catnap, catnap killed bubba with the red smoke, hoppy tried to find an escape through the roof of the playcare, but fell to her death. Meanwhile kicken found a way out and asked crafty to accompany him, after hoppy fell, the rest of the critters (dogday, bobby, and picky) saw them running away and followed them thinking they knew a way out. They come across catnap and he kills kicken first. After seeing kicken be killed by catnap, crafty attacks catnap out of pure rage, catnap kills crafty too after putting up a good fight with her. Dogday tells picky and Bobby to run, Bobby doesn’t want to leave dogday behind, dogday tries to reason with catnap, but gets his legs ripped off and is taken by catnap. Bobby wants to help dogday but picky tells her that they need to keep running. Picky soon gets tired (due to little exercise) and gets captured by catnap and is taken prisoner and forced to eat her friends for survival, and soon died of starvation.

So Bobby could possibly still be alive somewhere in the factory, maybe we might see her in chapter 4

Why wouldn't Crafty escape the factory?
Wouldn't Crafty have killed Kickin before they left the factory?
But Kickin died after he stepped out.
Meaning that Crafty killed Kickin while they were leaving.
But why would she be drawing on the way out?
That... is what doesn't make sense...

I usually don’t comment on most videos I watch, but I love Poppy Playtime theorizing so…

I’ve seen so many theories, but I think my favorite is that Bobby and Hoppy were, in fact, attempting to escape together. Bobby was too afraid to make the jump, but Hoppy was getting impatient with her and decided to do it alone, but she failed, and fell to her death.

From the way I see it, this, ultimately, traumatized Bobby, not only because she watched Hoppy die, but because of the fact that Hoppy jumped without her, somewhat planning to abandon her, which is why Bobby has such a fear of abandonment. Now, still alive and alone, Bobby wishes she had jumped with Hoppy, even if it would’ve resulted in her death, because she’s tired of being alone and misses her friend.

I’ve also heard a theory that Hoppy, purposely, jumped to her death. Most likely because they were being chased and Hoppy would rather jump to her death than have deal with the thing chasing them, which might’ve been Catnap. Either way, she was trying to Bobby to do it with her, but Bobby was too afraid, so Hoppy did it alone. And, again, Bobby wishes she had jumped with Hoppy which is why, on her cardboard cut-out, she asks for Hoppy to take her with her, presumably to afterlife.

Also, though Bubba Bubbaphant wasn’t in this video, someone pointed out that Bubba’s scream comes right after he asks the question, “Want to know what I remember about you?”. This timed scream, along with the fact he was probably killed, might indicate how he remembers the experiments, the torture, the Hour of Joy, etc.

Then, for Crafty Corn, I’d seen a theory that Crafty didn’t kill someone, but instead used her own blood. She wasn’t talking to another person, but rather herself because she was driven to insanity. And then, she eventually died from blood loss, which led to Picky finding her body and eating her, along with the corpses of Kickin and Bubba. Even after eating them, Picky is still hungry. So, since she’d already eaten all of her friends, she wants to make another friend so she can eat them, too.

Lastly, I just wanted to point out how sad Kickin’s death is. I’d imagined that all the Smiling Critters were previously children from the orphanage before they were experimented on. And when Kickin talks about the outside, you can hear the child-side of him coming out, especially when he asks for someone to come with him, which is something a child would do if they were scared. Also, in a segment in the game, Poppy says that the prototype would kill the player if they ever tried to escape, before they ever got to the front door. And I think Kickin trying to escape and go “outside” was what caused him to be killed. Maybe that was the main reason he was scared of going outside. Because he knew there was a high chance he would be killed for it.

Before, i thought that piggy and catnap cooperated, because how would catnap be able to 1v7 the smiling critters? And based from her voice lines i thought she killed and ate the 3 other smiling critters(Bubba Bubbaphant, CraftyCorn, KickinChicken) while all of them are trying to defeat catnap and also her end voice line ask if they can be friends, i thought she's talking to catnap, but that's just not the case the other cutouts recordings suggest that catnap forced piggy to eat 3 of her friends after they died, and she might be asking the prototype if they can be friends

THEORY: Dogday was leading the other smiling critters ( except for bobby and hoppy, ill explain why later ) to freedom and they all wanted dogday to come with them but they all stop in fear ( refrencing to the " why are you, just standing there? " Line from dogday's cutout ), then dogday says, " You can't be here you cant stay, " huggy wuggy catches dogday first, then the rest. Huggy wuggy brought dogday to catnap (as you remember, huggy was the security for the factory ) catnap, then punishes dogday for heroism against EXP:1006 then the others

Hoppy and bobby managed to escape before they were caught, and craftycorn was the last to catch, but huggy failed to do so, resulting in her escapence as well..

I dont really know, this was probably stupid..
I just thought this was a good theory😅

Hoppy hopscotch is probably alive, while she did scream piggy never mentions bunny, and in the sleep well video she is the only smiling critter (other than catnap) who really stood out

The prototype is the hero because Matpat said that rich was against playcare and he probably got a promotion and heard about the BBI then got turned into the prototype and did the hour of joy to avenge the kids but he lost part of his memory like Thomas Clark and became super violent but he can’t give them freedom because the toys are demons

My last hint that is actually a big reveal and it's critical detail if you listen to cg5 song all chapters they tell story's and give hint on what happens in the hour of joy also chapter one had the theme song for cg5 3 poppy song. They are giving so many hints in the songs.
