Edit: just heard the ending. Gotta say, I feel this hard in Oakland right now. It's crazy to think that I will not be able to afford a home in the city that raised me. And it's crazy seeing the new high rises shooting up while the Tent Cities are shuffled around and swept under the rug. The place that I used to go and see my Black and Latino street uncles are now overrun with little pop up shops catering to people who ignore me when I say good morning, people who call the police because my mother was 'driving while black, ' people who pull from the communiry and fund their own.

I still love Oakland, although it's changed.
