Everything you said makes me more excited to get my copy of Expeditions! Scythe is my #1 game but I don't pigeonhole myself to only one style of game. Great feedback guys!

Thanks for your thoughts on this one. I am a big fan of Scythe and I am also looking forward to giving this a try as well. I love the lore and art style and appreciate the contrast from the original. And as a solo gamer, I also love the streamlined solo mode.

Really looking forward to my preorder. I really wanted to like Scythe but it was too area control for me. This appeals so much more. It has a slight Dwellings of Eldervale feel about it. Visiting tiles to gain resources, cards and extra workers, combined with the best bits of Scythe. Very excited to play it. Would love to see a MvM playthrough 👍

Great job with your first impressions, thanks. I tried Scythe and I was disappointed in the game. I thought this may be for me, but after seeing more of the game, I know it’s not for me. I’d be ok trying it (like I did Scythe), but not going to buy it.

You said the game ramps up (from a slow start to bigger later on). One of my biggest issues with a lot of Stonemaires games (even though I like them) is that just when it feels the engine really starts going (wingspan, scythe, viticulture) the games are over. Someone scores big in scythe or viticulture and suddenly it's the last round/year, and in wingspan with the descending amount of turns making the last part of the game feels a bit anti-climatic some times. How would you estimate this translates to this game?

As a side note, I hope this game plays well solo because the lack of area control from Scythe makes it much less likely I'll convince my gaming group to play it, they tend to lean towards that aspect more. Though I wouldn't really call Scythe a war game, you essentially gets punished for fighting outside of specific situations, my group would rather have MORE fighting xD

I didn't really like Scythe even though I thought I would. I felt like I spent too much time staring at my playmat rather the board. I think I might enjoy this better because I enjoy card play and tableau engine building much more.

It seems like a post-apocalyptic-themed Istanbul would be a more engaging version of this.

Thanks for the vid....man, I REALLY don't like the look of cards sitting in empty spaces between the they had thought of a different way to do that.

looks like a much smaller game than the box

Oddest looking board setup I’ve seen in years. There might have been good reasons for why they did it that way but man they sacrificed style. It just looks wrong
