One issEU at a time - with Elsa Fornero

In the third episode of "One ISSEU at a Time," Professor Elsa Fornero, a Professor of Political Economics at the University of Turin and Former Italian Minister of Labour and Social Policies, delved into the challenges of an ageing society.
She explained how the EU could adapt welfare policies to address both an ageing population and declining birth rates. Professor Fornero also explored how member states could balance pro-natal policies with women's workforce participation and fair working conditions. She examined the effects of a shrinking working-age population on technology adoption and automation, and the potential role of artificial intelligence in mitigating these issues. Additionally, she discussed how improved immigration policies could help counter declining birth rates and reduce the strain on social security systems.
