I'm in tears at the end when Noam thanked Dan for his lifetime contributions. It's like saluting the last time to a true hero. (Dan had only several months to live.) Noam and Dan, you two are my inspiration. I will continue your efforts to fight against nuclear war. Thank you, Dan. Thank you, Noam. Thank you. Thank you.

These two have been my heroes since I was a child out protesting the Vietnam War although I wasn't really old enough to be traveling around unsupervised when I started. I joined the anti war movement when I was an eleven year old girl and still very young when we surrounded the Nixon Whitehouse. We found out later how badly we had scared him which makes me smile to this day although we haven't succeeded in stopping the war machine which is still in danger of ending us unless we end it.

Dan is right, people are easily led by fear of an enemy. The other factor I have seen with this round of major US agression, is that the middle and upper middle class intelligentsia and professional crowd, people I’m around a lot in person, seem to have absolutely bought into this kind of Wilsonian-Bernaysian slogan, “Make the world safe for democracy.” It’s not even that they feel personally fearful, it’s more like it’s the status position to pretend that the US is not the global hegemon and aggressor. Many people whom I knew to be against the Iraq war when I was a high schooler, seem to be on board with the imperial narrative now. It’s very worrisome.

Two titans of our world... what great minds in dialogue! What great and beautiful minds!

Hard to imagine a more interesting conversation to get to hear, given the combination of people, where those people are in their lives (Daniel recently announced his terminal illness; Noam has 94 years under his belt), and the current challenges facing humanity. Thank you.

The subject matter of this discussion - a world smoldering in the climate crisis, nuclear war looming as close as it did in 1962 - between two such enormous figures, truly national treasures, is almost overwhelmed by the personal sadness of the situation. Both in their early nineties and sharp as ever, Ellsberg - though it's hard to believe, given his remarkable vitality - is soon leaving us and Chomsky...I hope he lives to 1000, if he wishes. There's so much wisdom and vitally important knowledge in these two men. I just wish more Americans were plugged into what's happening and what really matters in these perilous, uncertain times.

A great and brilliant discussion. How to mobilize people who would rather sip coffee and shop?
