Then the neighbour pulled out s flash light and they found the keys under the couch. And thats why you might go outside to find solutions even when the problem is inside: other people might enlighten you when you find yourself in the dark with no insight.

Easy solution: go to your kitchen, grab a pot and a suitable lid. Take the pot outside under the lamp. Make sure that the pot is fully illuminated and put the lid on. Now go back inside your home, open the lid to let the light out.

Maybe, just maybe someone dropped "my" keys under a street light? Maybe that was the purpose, to engage one person in the search, in the first place. Maybe he is the key to the house. The key that grew legs and walk away, so to say. And now the key plays dumb, saying, "didn't you dropped me in the house, in the dark" ? That's kinda frustrating to be accused of looking in the wrong place and to actually find it there, under the street light! But, that is the lesson to be learned, that in the dark IS the right place to be found, and, the key is trying to communicate that knowledge after making a mistake of putting hopes on the street light.
Conclusion, the right continuation of the story not "if you lost your keys in the house why are you looking here under the street light", the right continuation would be "let's go back to the house, I know where it will be".
